27 May 2025 - We’re proud to announce the successful delivery of a IM3000 USV to our client Maritime and Coastal Services Flanders (MDK, Agentschap Maritieme Dienstverlening & Kust). The "USV Nemo" will support MDK’s efforts to modernize and streamline hydrographic surveys across Belgium’s waterways and coastal zones.
What we delivered:
➟ USV (type IM3000): An unmanned surface vessel equipped with LiDAR, obstacle avoidance, a 360° camera, and both single beam and multibeam sonar systems.
➟ LARS Trailer – The centerpiece of the delivery: a fully integrated Launch and Recovery System (LARS) trailer. Its vertical lifting system can lower and retrieve the USV from up to 20 meters below the trailer's position, making it ideal for operations from elevated structures like bridges or quaysides. The system enables the USV to be ready for operation within 2 minutes. the ultimate step for fast and secure deployments
➟ Mobile Field Office: The trailer includes a fully electric mobile workspace, complete with PC workstations, charging infrastructure, and enough onboard capacity to support a full day of autonomous field operations with zero emissions.
Deployment & Capabilities
MDK will deploy the "USV Nemo" to conduct surveys across Belgian ports, inland waterways, and nearshore coastal areas. The IM3000 provides the tools needed for high-resolution bathymetric mapping and real-time environmental monitoring—making operations safer, faster, and smarter.
Training & Support
To ensure a seamless transition, we provided MDK staff with a two-day training program. This covered USV operation, deployment and retrieval using the LARS trailer system, and survey configuration procedures.
